The Institute of Business and Economic Research (IBER) provides small donor funded Dissertation Research Grants by UC Berkeley Graduate Students in the Ph.D. programs in Agricultural & Resource Economics, Business, Demography, Economics, and Public Policy.
The maximum award is $1,500. Projects focused on international development are eligible for a $1,500 supplement, subject to additional review by the Center of Evaluation for Global Action (CEGA). Students applying for support for Xlab projects should direct their request to the Xlab.
Grants may be used to cover out-of-pocket expenses associated with gathering data or conducting interviews in support of a Ph.D. dissertation. Grant awards are limited to one per academic year and two per life-time.
Deadline: There is no specific deadline. Awards are made on a rolling basis; the Institute makes awards to strong applications as long as sufficient funds remain. (Funds are periodically refreshed by new contributions from donors.)
