IBER provides administrative support and oversight for grants awarded to UC Berkeley investigators. The mission of the IBER staff is to facilitate the administrative side of grant funding, so that researchers can focus on the research itself, with assurance that the bureaucratic side is well-managed.

IBER’s administrative analyst, advises faculty researchers on funding agency requirements, interprets agency and UC policies, and offers general grant management guidelines.

We act as a liaison with granting agencies, the Sponsored Projects Office, and Extramural Funds Accounting, and provide assistance to meet agency reporting requirements.

IBER staff members handle the employment of graduate student researchers and other personnel funded by research grants, order equipment and supplies, and reimburse travel and other expenses. Budget projections and expenditure reports are prepared on a regular basis.
