The Competition Policy Center held a conference on the "Economics of Competition and Innovation" on October 26-27, 2007 at the Alumni House on Berkeley campus. Conference on 'Health and Im/migration'
A conference dealing with two of the most important issues facing Californians - health (and healthcare) and immigration - was held on Wednesday, April 18, 2008. "TransNational Health: New Research on Im/Migration and Health" was the first major event sponsored by the Health and Immigration Consortium, a three-way partnership among Berkeley, UC San Francisco, and UC's Office of the President.

Economist David Card Wins Labor Economics Honor
David Card, a University of California, Berkeley, economist known for his work in labor and immigration, is a 2006 recipient of the prestigious Institute for the Study of Labor (IZA) Award in Labor Economics.
New IBER Center on Risk Management
A $3 million endowment by Coleman Fung (Cal '87) has created IBER's newest research center. The Fung Center will support research on a very broad range of risk management topics around a central theme: how to manage the potentials and benefits of risks in a resource-constrained future.
Historical Statistics of the United States
Twelve years after it was begun at IBER, the new edition of Historical Statistics of the United States (HSUS) has arrived. The California Digital Library has purchased a subscription to the on-line edition, available to UC employees and students through the HSUS website.

IBER Researcher Awarded Honorary Doctorate
IBER is pleased to announce that Professor Karlene Roberts (Haas School of Business) has been awarded the Honorary Doctorate in Management Science by the Université Paul Cézanne Aix-Marseille III. The degree, approved by the French Foreign Ministry, was conferred this past Spring. The text of the presentation at the ceremony was by Dr. Philippe Baumard, her collaborator on several research projects—most recently, IBER’s new Center for Catastrophic Risk Management.
