The Institute of Business and Economic Research promotes research by Berkeley faculty and graduate students, where the tools of economics and related social sciences are brought to bear on important issues of our world. Many projects are ones traditionally associated with economics-- managing the macro-economy or the firm. But IBER researchers also use economic tools to investigate problems of health and health care, how individuals make decisions, how organizations respond to disasters, or the economic effects of an aging population.
How does IBER promote research?
- Obtaining extramural research grants through the competitive struggle for federal, state, and private research funds. IBER helps faculty prepare and submit proposals, and administers awards flowing from successful proposals.
- Encouraging collaboration across disciplines through nine multidisciplinary Research Centers.
- Making grants for graduate student research
- Disseminating research results through Working Papers and the IBER Bulletin
You can support research!
